Over the nearly two decades I have been a homeschool parent, I have bought and tried dozens of curriculums. I have homeschooled through times of hardship and times of plenty and I understand the need for a quality product for a reasonable price. I have taught many subjects at co-ops including Chemistry, Physics, Astronomy and Health. I absolutely love to read and to learn. I love to deep dive into books and figure out what the author was really trying to say.
I love to read whole books- not snippets or chapters or excerpts. I love to test the boundaries of vocabulary and use words that are brand new or long forgotten. I love to test and challenge and question my students as they learn what makes them tick and to find their place in the world. I think teaching someone to think is way more important than teaching them to memorize.
I don’t love sites that pretend to be safe and have ads my children should not see. I don’t love sites that sell my information. I don’t love sites that bill me when I forget to cancel. I promise this site has none of those things.
The Swift River is a beautiful river here in Maine that looks simple and elegant and beautiful. It is small and easily missed, but full of gold just below the surface. I believe most books are full of treasure if only you take the time to look below the surface.
In 2021, I created this site and named it Swift River Resources. It is everything I wished I had been able to find at the price I wanted to pay. It eliminates all the things that are intrusive, dangerous or expensive while encouraging your child to love learning about themselves and others through great books. It creates a syllabus at your direction and allows you the parent to control what you assign your child and when. It then grades and tracks those assignments and creates a customized report for your records.
I hope that this site makes your homeschool journey easy and fun. Please feel free to reach out at info@swiftriverresources.com at any time.
